Join this webinar as we delve into the de-selection process, discussing:

  • Reasons for weeding your collection
  • Steps to begin and complete.
  • Weeding process
  • Resources that provide guidance and support and much more!

When it comes to weeding a library collection, librarians often have varying perspectives. Some feel anxious about removing books from the shelves, while others might sneakily dispose of them in the dark of night. Then there are those who say, “Bring it on!” I proudly identify with the latter group.  In this webinar, I will share my approach to weeding with open arms, embracing the opportunity to remove worn, tattered, or outdated books, as well as those that, despite looking brand new, have not been checked out frequently.

By the end of this session, you may find that de-selection is less painful and discover the rewards of having updated, concise shelves that make book browsing easier and more enjoyable for patrons.
